MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The eighth annual American Fitness Index is out, and the Twin Cities comes in at No. 2.

The rankings are based on outdoor exercise options and rates of smoking, obesity and diabetes.

The Twin Cities gets high marks for things like more dog parks and playgrounds, as well as a lower death rate for heart disease.

Some areas of improvement include fewer swimming pools, and a need for people to eat three or more servings of veggies each day.

Washington, D.C., topped out the list.
