ME: Missing Woman Was Severely Intoxicated, Died In Drowning

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A woman whose body was pulled from the St. Croix River earlier this month a week after she went missing was severely intoxicated and drowned, according to a report released Thursday by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.

Abbey Russell, 24, was last seen alive around midnight on April 24 near the intersection of Poplar Street and Highway 95 in Stillwater. She was originally from western Wisconsin, moved to Stillwater and was working in area.

She was reported missing on April 25, and her body was pulled from the river on May 2 just north of downtown Stillwater. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office said she had a blood ethanol screen that showed a level of .336 and she died from a fresh water drowning.

Authorities said her screen also showed no drugs in her system and no foul play is suspected in her death.
