MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It is that time, the one time during the week when we think about the weekend. This time, WCCO This Morning found plenty of fun, and free activities, around town.

This weekend get outside and play!

Minnesota’s 75 state parks are all offering free admission Saturday to celebrate National Get Outdoors Day. All of the state’s parks have special activities planned. But admission isn’t all that’s free. You’ll be able to borrow fishing and birding kits. GPS kits and kid’s discovery kits are also available.

It’s the second Saturday in June.

That means from 9 p.m. to 5:26 a.m. tens of thousands of people gather throughout Minneapolis to explore Northern Spark! Think giant projections on buildings, surprising encounters with artists and performers! Leave your wallets at home, this event is free.

Fido and fluffy love free?

They’re in luck too! The Minnesota Pet Expo is Saturday at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Admission is free and pets are welcome!

Get the whole family on their bikes and spin into St. Paul’s Raspberry Island Park.

On Saturday, Dynacraft’s Color Ride features a guided ride through the park with “pit stop” game stations, a color powder party, a live DJ and healthy refreshments. Leave your wallets at home, this event is free.

Finally browse head to Excelsior Commons for 35th annual Art on the Lake.

This popular event showcases a wide array of high-quality art and crafts, jewelry, wood, painting, ceramics, glass both contemporary and traditional. The event is Saturday and Sunday. It’s also free.
