6-Year-Old Girl Killed In ATV Accident ID'd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Beltrami Country Sheriff's Office says a 6-year-old girl is dead after an ATV crash Monday afternoon.

At 4 p.m. on June 15, the sheriff's office was alerted to an ATV crash in Hines Township on private land, located on the 20500 block of Nebish Road Northeast.

Upon arrival, emergency responders learned a 6-year-old girl was fatally injured after falling from a moving ATV operated by her mother. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the victim died at the scene.

On Tuesday afternoon, the victim was identified by the sheriff's office as Skyla Nesvig. Her mother is identified as Jennifer Nesvig of Williston, North Dakota.

The crash is being investigated by the sheriff's office with assistance by the Minnesota State Patrol.
