Hennepin Co. Begins Warrant Sweep Against Domestic Violence
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office began a warrant sweep Wednesday focused on domestic violence.
Among the individuals with active warrants, officials are seeking two offenders who are high on the county's list. Manuel Mateo Lopez and Theodore John Stonich II were added to the Hennepin County's Most Wanted List.
Lopez is wanted for first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to Hennepin County, on March 30, 2014, Lopez beat and forced a 10-year-old girl onto a bed. He then raped her multiple times, which resulted in pregnancy.
Lopez fled when he was confronted about the rape.
Stonich is wanted for second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to Hennepin County, Stonich was reportedly stalking a victim in 2012 and during one incident used a knife to stab the victim and cut the victim's throat.
Stonich resisted arrest by spraying mace in an officer's face.
Hennepin County is working with 15 other law enforcement agencies on the warrant sweep.
"Domestic abuse isn't a private matter that goes on behind closed doors. We all know it's against the law, but it's also a violation of those basic human rights," Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek said Wednesday. "And you're not going to be tolerated anywhere across Hennepin County."
