Timberwolves Open Shiny New Downtown Practice Facility

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx officially unveiled their new practice facility and medical clinic across from Target Center on Wednesday.

The event allowed Mike Max to ask the owner a couple questions about the upcoming NBA Draft.

The official unveiling of the Timberwolves practice facility brought a crowd that included the NBA Commissioner, less than 24 hours after the conclusion of the NBA Finals.

"Frankly I've never seen anything like this. I've heard you say the gold standard, this is truly the gold standard," NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said.

But it was also a time to turn basketball conversation into another basketball conversation, like will this facility help attract free agents?

"I think it's better to say that it's one of the things. I don't want get out there and just say money is No. 1 and winning is probably right up there," Timberwolves Owner Glen Taylor said.

Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders has been keeping the NBA Draft workouts top secret, but everyone knows this: Former Duke center Jahlil Okafior was in town Wednesday.

Former Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns is soon to follow. So what do you look for?

"That they have to grow more. In the past we've had some players that had a great college career but then didn't step it up after that," Taylor said. "I mean we have to be really cautious that that doesn't happen to us."

And while we got you here Glen Taylor, do you think Kevin Garnett is coming back for sure?

"I know he's working hard on his health and I think that's the first thing. It would seem like he would be interested to me (in coming back) if he works that hard," Taylor said.
