Burnsville Woman Gets 4 Years In Prison For Son's Death

HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — A 25-year-old Burnsville woman has been sentenced to roughly four years in prison for contributing to the death of her 4-year-old son.

Sha'reese Miller of Burnsville had pleaded guilty in March to second-degree manslaughter, and she was sentenced Friday. Her ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old William Alphonso Warr, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the boy's death and was sentenced to 30 years in prison earlier this month.

Miller's son, Key'ontay Miller Peterson, was found dead in June 2013. An autopsy said he died of blunt-force injuries.

Prosecutors say Miller put her son in danger by allowing him to be around Warr, despite a court order filed against him after he threatened to kill her and her children. She's also accused of letting the abuse continue and not seeking medical help for injuries.
