Sheriff: Motorcyclist Killed After Hitting Deer Near Mora

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 62-year-old man from North Branch was killed Saturday after hitting a deer with his motorcycle north of the Twin Cities metro.

Authorities said the crash happened at about 9:30 a.m. on 195th Avenue about a quarter mile east of Rainbow Street in Comfort Township, which is just east of Mora. The driver, identified as David Herbert Anderson of North Branch, was taken to North Memorial Medical Center after the crash.

Anderson was pronounced dead early Sunday morning. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office said he died of blunt force injuries in the torso connected to the crash with the deer.

The Kanabec County Sheriff's Office is investigating what led up to the accident.
