Garrison Keillor Tells Newspaper He's 'Transitioning Out' Of Hosting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Radio host Garrison Keillor plans to transition out of hosting "A Prairie Home Companion."

The 72-year-old told the Berkshire Eagle newspaper in Massachusetts that he wants to gradually turn over his hosting duties to mandolin player and singer Chris Thile.

Thile hosted the radio show twice in February.

Keillor has hosted "A Prairie Home Companion" for 41 years.

The program airs on some 600 public radio stations and has a weekly audience of about four million listeners.
