Tyus Jones Realizes His NBA Dream With Timberwolves

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- After the Minnesota Timberwolves took Karl-Anthony Towns with the No. 1 overall pick in last Thursday's NBA Draft, there was still plenty of work to be done.

The Timberwolves had two second round picks, but Flip Saunders made it known publicly it was his wish to move those picks in an attempt to get back into the first round and get a backcourt player. He got his wish in a deal made with Cleveland, who had the No. 24 selection.

The Timberwolves gave them both of their second round picks and a future second round selection for the rights to Apple Valley native Tyus Jones. The former prep star went onto Duke and not only won a national championship, but was also named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament.

He's now going to start his NBA career in his hometown, some Jones repeatedly called a blessing. Jones will be the back-up point guard to Ricky Rubio.

WCCO's David McCoy sat down with Jones after the draft to talk about playing in the NBA in his home state and what life has been like since winning the NCAA title.
