Wet Weather Hampers Hay Harvest But Good For Soil Moisture
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Wet weather and high humidity across North Dakota over the past week has delayed the hay harvest and spraying of newly planted crops.
But the Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that the precipitation has been good for soil moisture and stock water supplies.
Topsoil moisture supplies are rated 97 percent adequate to surplus, and subsoil moisture supplies are 95 percent in those categories.
Stock water supplies in North Dakota are rated 96 percent adequate to surplus, and pasture and range conditions are 79 percent good to excellent.
The condition of the state's staple spring wheat crop is rated 80 percent good to excellent.
