Minnesota Couple Gifts Innovation Professorship At Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — A Minnesota couple has given Lawrence University a $1.5 million gift to establish a professorship in innovation.

Dwight Peterson is a 1955 Lawrence graduate. Peterson says he learned the importance of innovation and creative thinking during his 38-year career at 3M. The suburban St. Paul company developed Scotch Tape and Post-it Notes.

Associate economics professor Adam Galambos will hold the first professorship from Dwight and Marjorie Peterson, of North Oaks, Minnesota. The professor was one of three faculty leaders who launched the Appleton university's program in innovation and entrepreneurship in 2008.
