MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The State Patrol says a driver died Saturday night in Sibley County after running a stop sign and being broadsided by another car.

The crash happened around 10:41 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 19 and County Road 9, officials say.

An Oldsmobile Ciera was going south on the highway when it failed to stop at a sign. The car was then broadsided by an eastbound Infiniti G35, and both cars went into the ditch.

The Oldsmolbile’s driver was thrown from the car and later died at the Hennepin County Medical Center. Officials have yet to release a name.

Amanda Meyer, a passenger in the Infiniti, was injured in the crash. The State Patrol says the 51-year-old from New Prague was taken to Arlington Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Infiniti suffered no apparent injuries.
