Douglas had been initially charged with two counts of mistreating animals, following a February incident where he was accused of fatally shooting his neighbor’s beagle with a pellet gun.

His guilty plea would dismiss one of the charges, per an agreement between prosecutors and Douglas’ attorney.

At a sentencing slated for Sept. 9, Douglas’ attorney will argue for three years of supervised probation for his client, but no jail time.
