MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in Minneapolis say a shooting Saturday night on the city’s south side has now claimed the lives of two men.

Officials say the shooting happened just after 10:20 p.m. near the intersection of Franklin and Chicago avenues.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men with gunshot wounds.

Emergency crews took the victims to Hennepin County Medical Center, where one of the men died hours later.

On Sunday morning, one of the victims was in “very serious condition,” but he later succumbed to his injuries, police say.

Officials have yet to release the victims’ names.

Police say the suspect fled from the scene of the shooting and that no one is in custody.

Officials are interviewing people who were in the area at the time of the shooting. They are also looking for surveillance video.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 1-800-222-8477.
