Authorities ID One Victim In South Minneapolis Double Homicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities have identified one of two men who were killed after a shooting in south Minneapolis Saturday night.

Minneapolis police say the shooting happened just after 10:20 p.m. near the intersection of Franklin and Chicago avenues. When officers got to the scene, they found two men who had suffered from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims, a 24-year-old St. Paul man, was pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center early Sunday morning. He was identified Monday by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner as Abdirahman Ahmed Jined.

The medical examiner said Jined died of gunshot wounds to the abdomen and chest. His death has been ruled a homicide. A second victim died in the incident. That victim has not been identified.

Police say the suspect fled from the scene of the shooting and that no one is in custody. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 1-800-222-8477.
