Kylie's Kids: Soccer Team Wins 'For Joseph'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Joseph Young was playing in the State Qualifiers when he broke his ankle. But even though he couldn't play in the finals, he still had a big hand in their win. That makes him this week's Kylie's Kids.

Joseph has been an athlete his whole life, so he's seen his fair share of injuries. But his latest broken ankle required five surgeries.

"In the second half, I got tangled up with a goalie," he said. "When I was trying to kick it, he fell down on top of my leg. My ankle was under his leg, but I kept moving."

Before Joseph went down, however, he scored two goals and helped the St. Croix Valley Aces advance to the State Finals.

So now, just like on the field, his teammates aren't about to leave Joseph hanging.

"A couple of them texted me last night," he said. "They're going to visit me today – kind of excited about that."

His teammates made a little detour from soccer practice to visit their teammate before the big game. And as for the state finals, the St. Croix Valley Aces won 2-1 "For Joseph" in the final minutes.
