Study: Kids Say Parents Spend Too Much Time On Cell Phones

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Kids have often had to compete with their siblings, but now kids have a new rival – the cell phone.

Online security company AVG found that a third of children say their parents spend as much or more time with their devices than them.

More than half of kids feel their parents check their devices too often. And a third say they feel unimportant when their parents are distracted by their phones.

The distraction can also be dangerous.

There's been about a 22 percent spike in preventable accidents with young children when their caregivers are using digital devices.
