Woman Gets 22+ Years For Fatally Stabbing Her Aunt

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 21-year-old Brookston woman was sentenced Thursday to 22-and-a-half years in prison for the stabbing death of her aunt.

The St. Louis County Attorney's Office says Lydia Marie Barney was found guilty of second-degree intentional murder for the death of 31-year-old Waubunoquay Dawn Randall.

The victim's body was found in her Stoney Brook Township home on Oct. 19, one day after she was last seen with Barney.

Randall was stabbed in the neck with a kitchen knife. Randall later confessed that she did not act in self-defense, and she knew what she was doing when she fatally attacked her aunt.
