Docs Show How Minnesotans Were Allegedly Recruited By ISIS

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Court documents provide new details on how seven young Minnesota men were apparently recruited to join the Islamic State.

Prosecutors allege that the men were inspired and guided by other Minnesotans who had joined terror groups in the Middle East and Somalia.

The defendants allegedly used the Internet to communicate with foreign fighters.

In April, FBI agents arrested six men in Minneapolis and San Diego. A seventh man, Hamza Ahmed, was arrested last November.

Federal prosecutors filed the documents Friday in response to motions from the suspects' attorneys.

A motions hearing is scheduled for Sept. 2.
