MNfusion: Dairy Goodness Bar Debuts Inaugural 'Flavor Of The Fair'

Move over, vanilla. Step aside, chocolate. There's a new flavor at the Dairy Goodness Bar and it's sure to be a fairgoer favorite.

That's because, they picked it!

As planning began for the 2015 Great Minnesota Get-Together, the Midwest Dairy Association decided to let the people pick the newest Dairy Goodness Flavor.

In spring 2015 the association opened up the "Flavor of the Fair" contest. The public was invited to vote on three flavors, all showcasing Minnesota-made ingredients in an online poll.

The winner? Salted Caramel Puff.

The Salted Caramel Puff can be a sundae or a malt. It is made with Minnesota dairy farmer's secret State Fair recipe vanilla ice cream, topped with caramel sauce and Old Dutch Puffcorn.

Visitors of the Dairy Goodness Bar can also submit a suggestion for the 2016 "Flavor of the Fair" contest. In addition to being in the running for becoming the 2016 Minnesota State Fair flavor, one suggestion will be drawn each day and the writer will receive a copy of 'The Dairy Good Cookbook: Everyday Comfort Food From America's Dairy Farm Families."

The new malt is part of the 11 new dessert foods featured at the Minnesota State Fair this year. To view the 40 other new, non-dessert, dishes, click here.
