MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials say one person died and eight others were injured late Saturday night after two cars collided in Kandiyohi County.

The State Patrol said the crash happened just before 11 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 12 and County Road 7, northwest of Willmar.

A Ford Fusion carrying three people from California was going south on County Road 7 when an SUV going west on Highway 12 slammed into it on the driver’s side.

The driver of the Fusion, a 55-year-old man from Venice, Calif., died in the crash, the patrol said. He was identified by the State Patrol Sunday night as Marcus U. Hahn.

Everyone else involved in the crash – two passengers in the Fusion and six people in the SUV – suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at nearby hospitals.

The State Patrol said everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.
