Several Southbound I-494 Ramps To Close In Northwest Metro

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Summer may be coming to a close but construction season is still in full swing.

After months of detours and closures, drivers in the western suburbs will have one more to deal with.

Beginning at 10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7 the southbound ramp from westbound I-94/I-694 to southbound I-494 will be closed.

To access I-494 from westbound I-94/I-694 drivers will have to take southbound Highway 169 to westbound I-394.

Additionally, the southbound I-494 ramps to and from Bass Lake Road in Maple Grove will also be closed beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Drivers looking to get to southbound I-494 from Bass Lake Road will be detoured to southbound Northwest Boulevard and westbound Country Road 9/Rockford Road.

Those attempting to exit southbound I-494 onto Bass Lake Road will be detoured to eastbound County Road 9/Rockford Road and northbound I-494.

The closures are required while crews repair the ramps. They are part of a two-year construction project on I-494.

The ramps are scheduled to stay closed through mid-October, weather permitting.
