MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Here’s a look at four things to do on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Number 1: Avett Brothers At The Grandstand
They’ll be playing the State Fair with special guest Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $35 and $45.
Number 2: Pole Vaulting In Minneapolis
Brit’s Pub in downtown is holding their second-annual pole vaulting competition.
They say it’s probably the only such competition held on a pub’s rooftop in the world.
Seventeen of the nation’s best men and women pole vaulters will be competing for the $5,400 prize.
There will be seven competitions throughout the day starting at 9:30 a.m.
Admission is free.
Number 3: MetaCon In Minneapolis
MetaCon returns to Minneapolis for a three-day comic and sci-fi convention.
There are hundreds of different events like a costume contest, video gaming, live music and dancing.
MetaCon is at the Hyatt Regency for Saturday and Sunday.
It costs $30.
Number 4: Future Farmers Day At The Fair
Take a trip through the barns and check out the animal competitions.
Students from grades 9 through 12 will have their livestock judged. And, of course, there is also the Miracle of Birth Center, which is full of baby animals to see.
It’s all at the Great Minnesota Get-Together this weekend.
