MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It is a big weekend for Germans! Or anybody who likes to polka, drink beer and eat brats. This weekend is the first weekend of Oktoberfest and there are a couple ways to celebrate.
Oktoberfest kicks off at Gasthofs in Northeast this weekend. Enjoy plenty of beer, brats, soft pretzels and of course live polka music Fridays and Saturdays from now through Oct.10.
This weekend only you can celebrate at the 15th annual St. Paul Oktoberfest. This year it has a new home the heart of downtown St. Paul’s Rice Park. Along with beer and brats, the iconic “Bed Races” are back.
Get your scare on at ValleySCARE. Now through October, big kids and adults that can handle it can take in Halloween Haunt with nearly 400 creatures of the night, occupying 11 of the most intense and terrifying mazes and scare zones.
During the day, tiny terrors can join Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang for some not-so-scary family fun at Planet Spooky.
On Saturday, the lakeside festival features locally produced food, art, antiques, crafts and a good-old-fashioned street dance.
And a crowd favorite, an apple pie eating contest at noon.
It’s a bacon lover’s dream! Bacon Bash celebrates all things bacon. The two-day festival in River Falls includes pig-themed activities for the entire family, live music and lots of bacon. Come out and sample bacon-inspired dishes from local restaurants and food vendors.
The League of Longfellow Artists is having their neighborhood art crawl Saturday and Sunday. This year there will be more than 100 artists at 60 sites throughout the Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis.
