Regions Hospital Accepts $50K Bid For Queen's Whisky

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Officials with the Regions Hospital Foundation said Wednesday they've accepted a $50,000 bid on one of two bottles of Bowmore Whisky from "The Queen's Cask."

The bottle was put up for sale at Saturday's 26th annual Wine Auction with no formal bids placed. An anonymous buyer came forward with the bid on Monday and is the first American to own one of the commemorative bottles. They were dedicated to Queen Elizabeth II after she visited the Bowmore Distillery in Scotland in 1980.

Officials say the second bottle is scheduled to be auctioned off on Nov. 20 by Bonham's, an auction house in New York. Proceeds from the auctions will benefit programs at the Regions Hospital Burn Center.
