Man Gets 30 Years For St. Paul Easter Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 21-year-old St. Paul man was sentenced Thursday to more than 30 years in prison for shooting the mother of his young child in the face on Easter morning.

The Ramsey County Attorney's Office said Judge Jeffrey Bryan sentenced Dimitri Devonte Harrell to 366 months in prison and ordered him to pay more than $7,000 to the Minnesota Crime Victims Reparations Board.

The sentence comes after Harrell was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 19-year-old Samirria White.

According to a criminal complaint, Harrell told police that he was holding his then 3-month-old child in his arms when he accidentally shot his girlfriend.

He told authorities that his relationship with White had been rocky since he fathered another child with another woman.
