Pedestrian Struck By 2 Cars In Benton Co.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A pedestrian was killed after being hit by two cars in Benton County Wednesday evening.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, around 8:41 p.m. 51-year-old Mary B. Larcom, of Sartell, and 27-year-old Jason Rau, of St. Cloud, were driving westbound on Highway 23 near the 14th Avenue SE crossing.

Westbound vehicles had a green light when 56-year-old James D. Olsen, of St. Cloud, began to cross the road against the light.

Police said Larcom struck Olsen as he attempted to cross. Rau, when changing lanes to pass Larcom, also hit Olsen.

Both Larcom and Rau suffered no injuries. Olsen died as a result of the accident.

Rau fled the scene for unknown reasons. No alcohol was detected on him.

He was arrested later on charges of fleeing a scene of a deadly accident. He is being held in Benton County Jail.
