Delta Airplane Returns To MSP Due To 'Smoky Odor'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Delta Air Lines flight leaving Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport returned to the ground after crew and passengers noted a smoky odor in the cabin.

A spokesperson for the airline said the flight "elected to return to MSP out of an abundance of caution."

Delta flight 2802, a Boeing MD-88, was bound for Tampa.

The airline said they were offering an apology to the 148 passengers aboard for the inconvenience. They were arranging for another plane to take them to Tampa.

"The safety of our customers and employees is always Delta's top priority," the spokesperson said.
