South Dakota Native American Tribe To Open First Ever Marijuana Resort

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A small South Dakota Native American tribe is taking on a new venture to attract tourism.

The Santee Sioux are opening the nation's first marijuana resort on its reservation.

Leaders plan to grow their own pot and sell it in a smoking lounge. It will include a nightclub, bar and eventually slot machines and an outdoor music venue as well.

The tribe said the project could generate up to $2 million a month in profit. The resort is set to open New Year's Eve.
