Community Organizations Team Up For 'Garage-A-Palooza' In St. Paul
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- You don't need millions to spruce up a neighborhood and give some run-down garages a fresh new look.
Community organizations like Habitat for Humanity teamed up for "Garage-a-Palooza." Volunteers fixed up and painted a dozen garages in the Frogtown neighborhood in St. Paul Saturday.
"Today is really important because it's about 10 community organizations all coming together to have a large impact on the quality of life for this neighborhood," Rebecca Lucero of Habitat for Humanity said. "But it's also not just about today -- it's about every single day. It's not just about this alley -- it's about every single alley, every single street. It's about building community, and being part of something bigger here."
They also cleaned up the alleyway, and added motion-detector lights in hopes of making the community safer.
