Wild Hosting Outdoor Viewing Party For Thursday Season Opener

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Wild heads to Colorado for its 2015-16 regular season opener Thursday night, but that doesn't mean fans in the Twin Cities can't be a part of the action.

The Wild announced Tuesday that they're hosting a free outdoor viewing party for hockey fans. It'll be at CHS Field, the home of the St. Paul Saints.

Gates for the event, which is being hosted by Xcel Energy, will open at 6:45 p.m. with the puck expected to drop at about 8 p.m. The viewing party will start with a one-hour pregame show at 7 p.m. leading up to the game.

Wild officials said in addition to the seats in the stands, people may bring blankets. Lawn chairs will not be allowed on the field. Concessions, including hot beverages and beer, will be available.

The event is free and open to the public. Officials said donations will be accepted at the gates to benefit Hockey Fights Cancer.
