MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 37-year-old man from Sacred Heart is dead after a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Yellow Medicine County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the fatal accident happened at about 3:41 p.m. on southbound Highway 67.

Eric Mahlum was in a Honda Accord which left the roadway, over-corrected, veered over both lanes of traffic and then went into a ditch.

The vehicle spun over a gravel path, then struck two trees and an embankment before coming to a rest on the passenger’s side against a tree.

Mahlum was pronounced dead at the scene.

The state patrol is investigating.
