Look For Teal Pumpkins At Allergy-Friendly Homes This Halloween

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A reminder for parents this Halloween night who have children with allergies.

Thousands of families nationwide are taking part in the "Teal Pumpkin Project." The project was started last year by the nonprofit group Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE).

Participating families will place a teal pumpkin on their door step. They will be handing out toys for kids allergic to nuts and other ingredients found in candy.

"It makes Halloween extremely difficult," mother Michelle Oganov said. "There's a lot of anxiety because we want her to have the experience that other kids have trick or treating."

If you want to participate, you still have time. You can print out a flyer on the organizations website in lieu of a pumpkin.
