According to the sheriff's office, the 10-year-old boy reported walking on Brisbin Street when an unknown person grabbed him in a bear hug and placed him into a black or dark-colored cargo van. There is no description of the suspect.

The child told authorities that he later escaped in the parking lot of Chipotle at Riverdale Cross in Coon Rapids.

On Thursday, the sheriff's office said the child now says that no abduction took place.

"After attempting to verify portions of the information provided, it has been determined that the abduction did not take place," the sheriff's office said. "Evidence consistent with no abduction has also been located and verified."

There is no cause for alarm or concern for the general public at this time, the sheriff's office added.
