Police: Persons Of Interest ID'd In Downwind's Disappearance; Foul Play Suspected

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Bemidji police are asking for the public's help in finding more information about the two persons of interest in the disappearance of a 31-year-old Rose Downwind.

On Thursday, police say 40-year-old Marchello Anthony Cimmarusti and 27-year-old Christopher John Davis were identified as the persons of interest. They also say a pewter-colored 2002 GMC Yukon with Minnesota license plate 325MGP was involved.

Police want to talk to anyone who may have seen the men or the vehicle between Oct. 19 and Oct. 29.

According to police, foul play is suspected in Downwind's disappearance. The investigation has been focused on an area north of Bemidji, including Lake Bemidji State Park and Buena Vista State Forest. More specifically, authorities are focusing on the area between the north end of Lake Bemidji and Lindgren Road, between County Road 9 and County Road 23.

Home and property owners within this area are asked to check structures and acreage for suspicious activities, like trespassing, recent fires or disturbed ground. Hunters are also asked to check their trail cameras for suspicious activity and images of the persons of interest or vehicle.

Downwind has been missing since mid-October. Family members said they last saw her on Oct. 19 at the Target in Bemidji.

Her ex-boyfriend said he saw her on Oct. 21, leaving a home on Stoner Avenue on the city's southeast side.

Downwind is described as standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She has brown hair and a light complexion, and she was last seen wearing a blue sweater and black pants.
