Target's 'OCD' Xmas Sweater Spurs Social Media Backlash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A number of people are speaking out against a would-be festive sweater design on shelves at Target stores this holiday season.

The red sweater features, in large green letters, the tag "OCD," with the explainer "Obsessive Christmas Disorder" underneath.

The joke has been featured in merchandise available on other sites and at other stores, but much of the social media reaction has focused on the Minneapolis retailer.

According to the Adweek, Target has no plans to remove them from shelves, and a spokesperson clarified: "We never want to disappoint any of our guests and apologize for any discomfort."

The sweater is also still available online.

Some people who claim to have obsessive compulsive disorder, the condition the sweater is riffing, say they aren't offended by the joke ... or that they're more offended by the shirt's design or the retailer's Black Friday hours.
