Charges: St. Paul Man Worked As 'Pimp' For 17-Year-Old

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 40-year-old St. Paul man is accused of prostituting a 17-year-old girl in Washington County.

On Monday, the Washington County Attorney's Office announced that Damon DiMartino was charged with promoting prostitution of a minor.

According to the criminal complaint, DiMartino was the "pimp" of a 17-year-old victim. DiMartino allegedly made the victim perform various sexual acts at parties for money, which she then turned over to him.

The charges come after a formal announcement by the county that its Major Prosecution unit will prioritize such case.

"We pledged last week to come down hard on those individuals who traffic our youth and rob them of their innocence," county attorney Pete Orput said. "We will do that here. I sincerely hope those traffickers will hear this message and know that Washington County carries a big stick.

DiMartino faces imprisonment of 20 years in prison if convicted.
