With temperatures in the 50s and green still showing on the ground, it’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is here.
Even more so, it’s hard to believe there’s only a month until Christmas.
For those that wait until after Turkey Day to start their holiday celebrations, it’s a tight deadline to fit in all the singing, snowflakes, Santa and shopping before December 25.
Luckily, downtown Minneapolis’ Macy’s combines both the shopping and the celebration.
For decades Macy’s 8th Floor Holiday Display has been enchanting children.
The 8th floor auditorium is turned into Santa’s workshop as colorful displays don the walls. Pictures depict elves in the North Pole as they prepare for Christmas. As families walk through, they can see elves going to school, decorating the forests, making cookies and building toys.
Also, at the end, kids will get the chance to see Santa.
In addition to entertainment for the kiddos, Macy’s has a number of things that will delight the adults in your life.
Macy’s Operation Happy Children
Finally, in addition to helping guests entertain family and friends, the department store is giving back.
On Tuesday, Dec. 1, the Macy’s in downtown Minneapolis will host Operation Happy Children.
For the 8th year, 200 preschool children from underprivileged areas are invited to a behind-the-scenes tour of Macy’s Santaland and a one-on-one meeting with the Man in Red himself.
The morning will begin at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast in the Skyroom. After, the children are invited to drop off their letter to Santa in the Macy’s Believe Mailbox, tour Santaland and meet with Santa.
Upon leaving, each child will leave with a shopping bag full of presents.
Macy’s Santaland is located on the 8th floor of the downtown Macy’s. It runs through Dec. 24.
