MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It is Thanksgiving and that means many of you may have started your long four-day weekend already. If you’re hosting out of town guests or just looking for something fun and festive to do with your family we have you covered in Working for the Weekend.
The lakes may not be frozen over yet, but the ice rink at the depot is! The Depot Rink officially opens for the season this Friday.
Skate rental is available. Admission is $9 for adults and $6 for kids.
Rummage up the ugliest sweater you can find and celebrate the Holidays by participating in the merriest 5k of the year!
The Ugly Sweater Run is Saturday at 11 am in St. Paul.
Awards for best mustache, best fake mustache, best beard, and worst sweater will follow the race.
Each Ugly Sweater runner receives a custom vintage knit hat, unlimited hot chocolate, and one beer (if you’re of age of course!).
Registration is $40.
If you’re looking for something free to do, head to 50th and France in Edina for the annual Tree Lighting ceremony. On Saturday, Visits with Santa, and enjoy strolling carolers, complimentary coffee & cider.

The Minnesota Orchestra will perform the score to a holiday favorite, Home Alone, live to the film! Performances are at Orchestra Hall are Saturday and Sunday, tickets start at $30.
For the first time ever take in Minnesota’s favorite holiday tradition in Loring Park.
Opening ceremony is Friday at 6:30. Meet Santa and don’t miss the lighting of the tree or the fireworks.
