MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It may not feel like the holidays are right around the corner with the warmer temperatures this weekend, but there are plenty of other ways to get into the spirit.

North Pole Express

All aboard! The Union Depot will welcome the North Pole Express steam engine this weekend! Guest can enjoy the experience of a 1 mile ride on a real steam train to the north pole. Once there you’ll be greeted by Santa and his elves who’ll have treats and goodies waiting.

Tickets are $22 for adults, $18 for kids.

Winter Light Show

It’s an annual holiday tradition on the University of Minnesota campus.

The CSE Winter Light Show is a student-designed 3D outdoor experience featuring more than 200,000 LED lights set to music, some of which is written and recorded by University of Minnesota students.

Opening show is this Friday, followed by performances over the next two weekends.

All shows are free and open to the public.

Find unique gifts for family and friends at The Holiday No Coast Craft-o-Rama. A variety of designers, artists, crafters will be selling their homemade goods at Friday and Saturday at the Midtown Global Exchange building.

Ice Fishing Show

Finally, while we wait for the lakes to freeze over, get ready for ice fishing at the largest ice fishing show in the country.
More than 190 exhibits will fill the St. Paul River Centre this weekend.

View all new ice fishing products, including fish houses, underwater cameras, digital fish finders, rods and reels.
Tickets are $9 for adults, $5 for kids.
