'Home Alone' Star Spends Christmas In Owatonna

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Macaulay Culkin wasn't home alone this Christmas. Instead he was in small town Minnesota, a holiday guest of R&B singer Har Mar Superstar.

The Owatonna People's Press reports that the child star of the Christmas films "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" was in town with his musician friend, Sean Tillmann. The two toured the country last year, with Culkin playing in his comedy rock band, The Pizza Underground.

Tillman told the paper he invited the actor, now 35 years old, to experience Christmas in Minnesota after staying with him while on tour at his Paris home.

"I thought it would be fun to show Mack the Owatonna holiday experience with my family and return the hospitality," Tillmann said. "Small town holiday time is a lot of fun. We mainly hung out at the house with my parents and brother relaxing and having some laughs. We did get to venture out to Reggie's on Christmas night and meet up with some old friends. We had a blast."

The two reportedly drank beer and ate a Heggies pizza at the downtown Owatonna restaurant.

Photos document the holiday celebration, showing Culkin wearing matching sweaters alongside Tillmann's father, Michael, and gathered around the Christmas tree with the singer's mother, Mary Kaye, and brother, Patrick.

"[Culkin] was a nice guy," Mary Kaye told the paper. "He's been a good friend of Sean's for a while."

She said that the group didn't do Christmas out of the ordinary. Culkin was "just another person at the table."

"It was just like having another son in the house," Mary Kaye said.

After Christmas, Tillmann and Culkin made their way to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. On Thursday, Har Mar Superstar is slated to play in Chicago.
