MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — For a team-best fifth time, Blair Walsh has been named the NFC special teams player of the week.

The Vikings’ kicker was honored for his role in securing Minnesota’s 49-17 win over the New York Giants. He had five field goals, two of which were from more than 50 yards out.

The Vikings’ Marcus Sherels was previously named NFC special teams player of the week this season. Walsh earned the designation three times in 2012 and once in 2013.

Walsh has now had three games with five or more field goals, which ties him with Gary Anderson.
