MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Many of us Minnesotans try to spend little, if any, time outside while the frigid air hangs around.
But even with sub-zero temperatures and wind chill advisories in place again earlier Tuesday, we found the bravest Minnesotans bearing the elements for an outdoor workout.
Mike Beer and his dog, Remy, walk around Lake Harriet every day — no matter what the weather is doing.
“He needs his exercise, yeah, so we come out here every day, we get our 10,000 steps with our Fitbit every day and he loves it no matter if it’s cold or hot,” Beer said.
Cross-country skiers braved the elements at Como Park.
“I waited until afternoon .I saw the sun was out,” skier Jeff Blodgett said. “You got to get outside in the winter or else you go crazy.”
We found Tom Beckey walking around Lake Harriet while wind-chill values dip to about minus-22 degrees. The arctic blast did not seem to bother him at all.
“You’ve got to embrace it, that’s part of being in Minnesota is to do it,” Beckey said.
Wind-chill values dropped to about 26 degrees Tuesday morning, and we have another frigid night on tap with sub-zero lows again.
