Rogers Youth Basketball Team Booted From League For Being 'Too Good'
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A youth basketball team in the northwest Twin Cities metro found out late last week it has been kicked out of its league for being "too good."
A high school level girls team from the Rogers Area Youth Basketball Association found out a day before a tournament that it had been kicked out of the Northwest Suburban Basketball League because the players were "too talented." The team had a 3-0 record before coach Jason Hanauska was informed of the decision late last week.
They had dominated opponents in their three wins, and other teams in the league had threatened to either forfeit games against RAYBA or quit the league if something wasn't done. A statement from the Northwest Suburban Basketball League says they decided that the RAYBA team does not fit into the league. The decision was made largely because other teams don't want to play them due to their skill level.
