MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — After a weekend sweep of Wisconsin, the University of Minnesota men’s hockey team swept all three awards for the Stars of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
The Gophers beat the Badgers 4-0 and 9-2 to improve to 8-2 in Big Ten play. Fasching led the Big Ten with five points in the weekend series, scoring two goals and adding three assist. He scored 12 seconds into the game in Friday night’s win and added a goal and an assist on Saturday. Fasching has had multiple point games in five of the Gophers’ last six contests. It’s his six career award and second this year.
Schierhorn shut out the Badgers Friday night and had a .964 save percentage for the weekend series and a goals against average of 1.0.
