Fmr. Timberwolves Player Fired By Minnetonka High After Assault Accusation
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A former Minnesota Timberwolves player is now a former basketball coach at Minnetonka High School.
Chris Carr was terminated by the Minnetonka School Board on Jan. 7 following an incident where he was accused of forcefully grabbing a student.
The police report about the Dec. 15 incident details how Carr confronted a male student who had allegedly slapped his daughter -- also a student at Minnetonka High -- the previous day at school.
The male student's mother reported the incident to Minnetonka police, alleging Carr told her son to stay away from his daughter and then choked him.
But two witnesses told police that Carr only grabbed the student's hooded sweatshirt, which Carr admitted to police.
Witnesses say the incident lasted about 30 seconds.
Police say they are no longer investigating the case.
Carr played for the Timberwolves for three seasons. He was head coach for Eden Prairie High School's girls basketball team for five years.
This was Carr's first and only season with Minnetonka High's program.
