St. Paul Man, 18, Sentenced For Shooting Good Samaritan In The Chest
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An 18-year-old St. Paul man has sentenced for shooting a Good Samaritan in the chest last September.
On Friday, Treheem Smith was ordered to serve 103 months – or nearly 9 years – in prison in connection to the Sept. 2, 2015 incident.
Smith shot a man who jumped out of a car to stop an assault on a vulnerable person at a light rail platform. The victim was taken to Regions Hospital where surgeons needed to fix a lacerated liver and had to remove part of his pancreas, stomach and colon.
Authorities say investigators were able to identify two juvenile assailants also involved in the incident, one of whom identified Smith.
The two juvenile males, ages 14 and 15, have since pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated robbery.
Smith was given credit for time served for 158 days.
