Woman Killed, Child Seriously Injured In Fridley Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are investigating a fatal crash in Fridley that claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman and seriously injured a 5-year-old boy.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, officers from Fridley police responded at 6:35 p.m. to the 6100 block of University Avenue on the report of a personal injury accident.

There, it was determined a vehicle traveling northbound on the road lost control, went into a skid, crossed the center median and into oncoming southbound traffic. The vehicle was then struck by a smaller-sized SUV traveling southbound.

A 24-year-old female passenger of the northbound vehicle died on scene. A 5-year-old by in the same vehicle was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

Neither driver was seriously injured.
