Minnesota Rolls Out New Way To See Infrastructure Age, Safety

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The state collects a lot of data about bridges, roadways, water and even airports.

But there has never been one place to see all this information -- until now.

The new Infrastructure Stress Transparency Tool is a one-stop website to get information about the age and safety of just about anything built and maintained by the state for public use.

"So this is all about better planning, better outcomes, better maintenance, asset management planning," Minnesota State Auditor Rebecca Otto said. "It's all these important pieces for us so that we have positive outcomes in our communities around the state."

The state worked with the University of Minnesota through a grant to fund the project.

It is designed to be used by local and state officials for planning purposes, but it is open to the public.
